Term 3 Week 1&2-Maths

In Maths we are learning to use a count on strategy to solve addition problems.

In Measurement and Geometry we are learning all about 3D shapes- cube, cylinder, cone and sphere. We are learning how many faces and edges the shapes have. We have been creating the shapes using playdough, building creations out of shapes, playing shape domines and completing shape activities on the computer! We have been using this song to help us to learn the shapes!

Welcome back to Term 3!

I hope you all had a fantastic holiday and ready for another fun term of learning! The classroom is all set up ready for our new topics!

In Numeracy we will be continuing to structure numbers to 10- Addition. We will also be looking at 3D shapes. We learnt about 2D shapes in the first term.

 Our new Inquiry focus is 'Kids around the World'. Please remember to return the Inquiry sheets we sent home before the holidays and email in a photo if possible!

 In Religion we will start of by learning about God's wonderful world- the Creation story.

In Literacy we will have a focus on Fairytales. We will begin to write narratives and continue our descriptive Writing.

You will discover who this exciting creature is who's sitting on Miss Jackson's chair very soon!

Dog safety

On the last day of term we were very lucky to have a special presentation on dog safety as part of our Inquiry unit on cool creatures. We learnt lots of important rules to remember around dogs to stay safe. 

Term 2 Inquiry

 This term we learnt all about 'Cool Creatures'. We learnt all about the different animal groups and so many different facts about animals!  We worked in groups and thought about if some pets should or shouldn't be kept as pets.We put on different coloured 'thinking hats' and discussed our learning.

In the last week of the term we had a special learning celebration where our parents came in to see what we had been learning about for inquiry for the term. It was very exciting our buckets finally came down from Term 1 from our Bucket Filler story. We got to share all our bucket filler slips for all the times we had been amazing, we shared other published work we had done for our Cool creatures Inquiry. We then showed our families our presentations we had been working on during the term. We used IPADS in groups and used the App '30 Hands' to create a presentation about one of the animal groups.

We wrote a special letter to Mr Wakeling asking if we could please get a class Pet. We surprised him and all went and delivered the letter to his office! We will wait and see what he says!
